The Snodgrass Fam {My SIS}

I read somewhere "Having a sister is like having a best friend you can't get rid of, no matter what you do, she is still there."
This is how I feel about my sis {and bro-n-law}.

Connor

Oh to be young again.

Betz Fam

 I cannot believe how big Ashlyn is getting.
I met the Betz family a few years ago, right before I had our first son Henley. When he was born, Ashlyn was one of the first to give Henley a nickname {or long name}. It was "baby heny", in a 1 year girl voice.

Taylor & Nathan

Where do I begin, I have the best job. I get to fall in love over and over again with every new couple that we get to capture. I met Taylor over 5 years ago, she was in High School and I was newly engaged. Now I feel so blessed to be a part of this new chapter in her life. She has a special piece of my heart.

Kelsey & Ryan

 These two met in College, and as they say, the rest is history. Sparks flew and here we are a few years later. Engaged and getting married next month. We are so excited to add Kelsey & Ryan to our PICGREEN family. Can't wait for the big day!!!!

Meryl & Jared {Rain or Shine}

The one thing that makes brides and grooms {and wedding photographers} a little nervous is the mention of rain in the forecast for the wedding day.  Meryl & Jared {or as Quincy likes to call them Jar-ryl} were married this last Saturday at Lake of the Forest in Bonner Springs. By simply looking at the pictures, you have no idea how many changes went on this day. The two handled it like pros.
The Ceremony was actually supposed to be an outside wedding on some acreage that a friend owns. Meryl’s father built this beautiful altar out of old windows and re-furbished wood that they were to be married under. Everything was all set to go, and then came the rain. Luckily Meryl called it earlier that day and they decided to be married at the reception site. They handled the whole thing with class and grace and never let it get to them.

The Dement Fam

We had the pleasure of capturing Scott & Sarah and there beautiful family. Quincy had so much fun on this shoot. He is still a child at heart. He told me that he told the kids to laugh on command, something that he tries to get me to do all the time.  They questioned this request a little at first but humored the guy with the camera, and they all started cracking up {the old laugh on command joke….gets them every time}. The moral of this story is that even if your husband {Quincy} acts like a child, it may come in handy when photographing families and small children.

Bre & Rustin

These two love birds met in High School. A young love that has matured and grown into a commitment for life; they are still crazy in love.  We are so excited to present Bre & Rustin to the PICGREEN Bridal Line-up for 2013. Two of the kindest people who radiate goofiness;)

Jessica & Parker

These two have my heart. They are one of our great PICGREEN Bride & Groom of 2013. I have really loved getting to know them and how they met. Not only that but how much they treasure each other. From the first email from Jessica I knew that we had to get this wedding; for more reasons than one. The main one being that they have a love that has endured loss and pain but that continues to grow.

Jessica & David { The Prescription is Love}

These two are a match made in…. the pharmacy. Two Pharmacists so in love that the doctor prescribed marriage. OK enough with the corny jokes…this past weekend was set for a wedding at Hawthorne House. A cool, crisp fall day, perfect for these two to seal the deal.

Kati & Brad

What a fun couple. They are one of our fabulous 2013 wedding couples. We are so pumped for their big day. So easy to be with and we have enjoyed getting to know them over the past month. Quincy had a great time with them, and they were up for anything and everything.

Congrats on your engagement!
You guys were wonderful to work with.

Andrea & Scott

Had the pleasure of meeting Andrea & Scott a month or so ago.

Audris & Jonathan {Rockies & Redbull}

Audris and JonathanSanchez were married at the Van NoyMansion. Some of you might know Jonathan as part of the team that won the World Series in 2010 with the SF Giants or from when he pitched his No-Hitter. He was a starting pitcher for the Royals & recently traded to the CO Rockies. This night he was just a guy getting married.

Alison & Scott {Doves & Huskers}

Alison and Scott met…. a while ago. That was the joke throughout the day. BUT I must say that I applaud them for waiting till it was right for both of them to make this next step in their journey together. Clearly they were so ready and both of them just exuded joy and love for each other the entire day.
We got to spend a lot of time together as with all of our weddings and got to know both of them very well; some of the sweetest most genuine people ever. They were very laid back the entire day but as the time came closer to walk down the aisle, Alison definitely got butterflies, the good ones.
Following the ceremony the couple had a surprise that they kept a secret from all of the guests. They each released a dove from their hands {which they both did flawlessly} and 8 others were released directly following there’s. And don’t worry all of them found their way home:)
The reception was held at the Clubhouse on Baltimore{way to go Linda Vena for the coordinating}; a beautifully decorated venue, complete with stained glass, one of a kind centerpieces, and custom wine made by the groom. The biggest surprise came later in the evening {Alison had this all planned from the beginning}, Herbie Husker- the mascot for Nebraska made a guest appearance.  Scott was shocked to say the least.
All in all the evening was filled with a lot of laughing, dancing, and Nebraska cheers.
GO BIG RED!!!

It was difficult writing this, because of all you teachers out there that will be reading this. I wrote it, spellchecked it, re-wrote it, and read it one last time. So I hope I done good :)
And thank you to the Principal for letting us cut in line to get some food.

Liz & Gabe {Lace and football}

 Liz and Gabe were married at Prince of Peace this past Saturday. If there is one thing that I took away from this wedding it was family. Liz made a point to make this day not just about her but her family. Her dad said it perfectly at the reception "Family is so important to Liz, that if there was a way to have everyone that was in attendance to the wedding, in the bridal party, she would do it".
Liz and Gabe also have exceptional taste in.....everything. The decorations were breathtakingly simple. Burberry bows, tan , with pops of red. And did I mention that Liz & Gabe are perfect for each other. They both have there unique personalities, but as a couple they mesh so well.

PICGREEN Fam

 Here are Henley and Chatwin {15 months apart}. AMAZING I know. They melt my heart, especially when they smile on command. We finally did a family shoot of US. It was very comical to whomever was watching us because Quincy would get the settings just right on the camera and then set the timer and have 10 seconds to run over and look posed.

Harper {"my Harps" says henley}

Oh little man...where do I begin. I remember going to see you in the Hospital on the first day of your life, and look at you know....you are one.
Quinn and Steph are some of our besties. Steph and I got Prego at the same time thinking, we will hang out so much more with two infants the same age. I am not sure we were thinking at all actually,,,,. and after a year of ear infections, teething, countless colds, and many more UN-named viruses here we are......

Erinn & Dave {Those New Yorkers}

Well Erinn and Dave, where do I start. I spent a day with you and I feel like I have known you for my whole life. Your wedding was so earthy, organic, and modern with lots of personal touches with sentimental value. The theme was New York with a twist. The table assignments were handed out on the leaf of a red apple; the tables were named after different parts of the city; the color scheme was an assortment of earthy greens with a little pop of color here and there.

Bethany & Travis {Jazz & Joy}

These two met at The Art Institute of KC. They both had been studying photography, so it was such an honor for them to pick us to photograph such a life changing event. From the first meeting I felt bonded to them. They were artsy like me and easy going {as I wish to be} with clear perception of what they wanted their wedding day to entail. I just liked the kids OK.

Ruff-Ruff

Val is one of my closest friends from college. Like I am sure many of you agree, it is so difficult staying in contact once you are in a different stage of life. Val is one of those people that I don’t have to. We are both so busy with our lives but when we get a chance to catch up, it’s like not a day has passed. Quincy and I got to hang out with her and her two beautiful dogs in Nashville while we were shooting Jonathan and Amanda’s wedding.

Best For Last {Page 232}

We have been waiting in anticipation for the Summer/Fall edition of KC Weddings to come out.
 Now unless you are a Bride-To-Be. Friend of, Mother of, you probably don’t give a hootin howl about this BUT we have been waiting.
We got featured on the entire back page of the magazine. Page 232 I do believe.
We still feel like newbies to the industry and look up to so many of our colleagues who have already made a name for themselves. Finally all of our hard work over the past few years is paying off. We have been noticed.

Aubrey & Jeff

 Aubrey and Jeff were married on June 2,2012. The ceremony took place in Theis Park and the reception was held at The Scarritt Grand Ballroom. Aubrey showed her unique style in her vintage gown with a hand picked belt that she added herself. The details and simplicity of this wedding are what made it. Everyone that was there to celebrate their union was captivated by the authentic love that they hold for one another. The one thing that stuck out most to me was the money dance. It was fun and seemed like any other money dance until the end - when they announced that all the money raised was going to the liver cancer foundation in memory of Jeff's mother who died of that very same illness. It gives me goose bumps just writing it. And when most of us {including me} would take the money and use it on our honeymoon, they were thinking of a bigger picture. Jeff and Aubrey, I don't know{inside joke}, I like you guys.

Crystal Bridges HDR

A few weeks ago Ashley & I went to Bentonville, AR ( Walmart HQ ) to do our first Preschool photo shoot.  We took portraits of about 125 little ones & actually had a really good time.  These kids where angels &; were very well behaved.  Hopefully our next Preschool shoot will go just as well!

One of the nights we were there I went to Crystal Bridges and took a few frames.  What an amazing museum, both art & structure.  This frame below is a HDR image...basically you take at least 2 identical images at different exposures ( 3 Frames in this instance) and merge them all together in Photoshop.  This way you get the darkness of the sky but the brightness of the structure.

This town & museum are well worth the trip.  From KC its only 3.45 hrs.  Have a good one!

Tornado Sunday

Us 5pm-ers at Heartland Community have all day on Sunday to get ready for church.

Josh&Nicole

We had the privilege of doing this engagement shoot for one of our upcoming brides this season. They were a fun and laid back couple. Very easy to shoot and be around.  We started out in Parkville and ended up in the West Bottoms. The park were we started the shoot has sentimental value to both of them. We very excited about there upcoming wedding and look forward to working with them again!!!!

Cousins

Our fam got to spend some time in Bentonville, Arkansas this past week. This is one of our new favorite spots to go. My sister, and her family moved there for her husbands new Pastoral position at Bentonville Church of the Nazarene this last January{i could be wrong on the date, I am horrible with dates}. There is a ton of outdoor activities, a wonderful new museum, and our favorite coffee shop Pressroom.
