Bethany & Travis {Jazz & Joy}

These two met at The Art Institute of KC. They both had been studying photography, so it was such an honor for them to pick us to photograph such a life changing event. From the first meeting I felt bonded to them. They were artsy like me and easy going {as I wish to be} with clear perception of what they wanted their wedding day to entail. I just liked the kids OK.

I have to be honest when I say that I was nervous, more than normal, because they are photographers. We got to the Uptown and Travis met us with a smile, as did Bethany, and this common theme kept occurring. They were both so so so laid back and even more in love. They chose not to see each other before the wedding but decided to exchange gifts with a door separating them. It was an emotional time for them and all of us taking it in. Travis had gotten Bethany’s grandmothers wedding ring and had it melted down and the stones put in this one of a kind abstract half heart that Travis designed. The emotional reception of this gift from Bethany just overwhelmed me. There was pure Joy in her eyes.
The ceremony and reception followed with lots of tears of love and joy from the two. There was not a dry eye in the crowd as they read their vows to each other. They just poured out of themselves in front of all their friends and family as they began this union.
Following the ceremony was a beautiful, simple, and unique reception with polaroid’s for people to take with vintage dress up cloths and the likes. The DJ rocked out the place with a mixture of Jazz and funk which included him scratching vinyl {this was awesome to watch and listen to}. The night was ended with friends and family saying there goodbye outside the theater next to the sign with their names in lights.

Congrats Bethany & Travis! You are two of the coolest people we know.
Thanks

  2. As our son and new daughter-in-law left for the evening, I commented to the Mother of the Bride, "I think we are going to have some incredible pictures from tonight". You guys flowed so well and were right there to always snap that special moment. Thank you for capturing beautiful memories for Travis and Bethany. We think they are a very special couple too.
