I finally did it. I went and got my first tattoo. I have
never felt more nervous in my life….except when I had my first baby…and my
second baby…and when I got my nose pierced. OK you get the picture I was very
nervous. I have been thinking about getting a tattoo for a really long time but
have never found a design that I would like for the rest of my life on my body.
I wanted something related to family, not necessarily names but something that
symbolized family.
Our pastor Dan talked to us one Sunday evening using an
illustration relating to giving. It was that you’ll never know the impact that
you have on people by just giving of yourself, your time, your wealth, etc. He
used an Aspen tree to tie it all in because aspens are what is used to reforest
areas that have been devastated by forest fires. They re-seed themselves by
leaves dropping and under the surface of the ground you will find shallow roots
that connect all of the trees together, like family.
This just really hit home with me. I grew up in Abidjan,
Cote d’Ivoire and when we left when I was 14, I left behind a lot of people I
considered family. Me not being the best person at keeping in touch, I have
lost contact with a lot of people, but I know that when our lives intersect
again we will be just as we were before, like family.
The tattoo represents my past, present, and future. It
represents my family that has always been there for me even when I was not the
easiest to love. It represents the
family that Quincy and I have made and the families that our boys will make one
day.
It is my constant reminder that I will never know the impact
that I can have on the people that I come into contact every day.
You’ll Never know….
Saint Jason is the artist that designed and did my Tattoo. He was a really genuine person to get to know. He didn't mind my nervous talking too much {I talk a lot when I get nervous}. He is a bee farmer on the side, which is a unique craft. So if you are in the market for an exceptional tattoo Jason America is your guy.
If you like it....right something:)
I LOVE it! The design is amazing, really unique! I just got my first tattoo last year, and I too could not stop talking. Anything to get my mind off of it :)
