Us 5pm-ers at Heartland Community have all day on Sunday to get ready for church.
we have grown quite fond of the late service. For a couple of reasons. Number One is = I don't have to get ready at the butt-crack of dawn and then run around the house like a crazy lady trying to get everyone ready and out the door...Oh and in the meantime Chatwin, our youngest, will miss his morning nap, our dog will throw up water on the floor {this is normal don't ask}, and Henley our 2 year old will have a melt down. Number Two is = we have more of a family day, we listen to Chris Rice on Pandora all morning, both boys get naps, I get a shower{hallelujah}, and we get out the door at a decent time to be there early to volunteer. It's just a more pleasant day for everyone in general.
So yesterday we got ready in time to snap some pictures of the kiddos. Henley was cheese-in it up {this is after he dumped a glass of water on this shirt and shorts} he was pointing at the camera and smiling. This was one of the first times he was acting and looking more like a little boy than a little baby. We were very proud. And Chatwin, well, he is just Chatwin.
After service we got a text from Mimi{q's mom} telling us the tornado sirens were going off. We were soon ushered into one of the back halls{I like to call it the VIP Bonus prayer session} to wait out the tornado touch-down. We were all a little frazzled but in good spirits. Dan{Lead Pastor} prayed for us, then we got the OK to leave after 10 min. As soon as we got back out into the main Lobby area, the rain and hail started again, and again, we were asked to moved to one of the back halls to wait again.
Obviously the tornado never touched down by us. It was nice to see the Heartland team working together to ensure our safety during this uncertain time. There was no other place I would rather be during a Tornado. Thanks HC 5pm-ers
